Autopatcher Windows Vista March 2007

Autopatcher is a tool independent of Microsoft which updates your Windows Vista in terms of security and functionality.This release is based on the all-new AutoPatcher 5.6. Although it was made with Windows Vista 32 and x64 English in mind, it will load on any (English) Windows version, showing only the items which match the running environment.

That means that if you're running a 32 bits version of Vista, you'll only see the modules for Vista 32 bits (the same thing for the 64 bits version).

Windows Genuine Advantage Validation v1.7.18.5

This is newest version on WGA Validation patcher.

Microsoft has released Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool version 1.5.708.0 which consists of LegitCheckControl.dll and LegitCheckControl.inf that is installed to whoever that wants to download WGA-protected downloads and software from Microsoft Download Center such as Internet Explorer 7 RC1 (Windows XP SP2), Windows Defender (Beta 2), DirectX End-User Runtime, Windows Media Player 10 and 11 Beta, Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable, Photo Story 3 and other Windows Genuine Advantage special offers. The latest version of WGA Validation Tool is installed when you try to perform Windows validation even though you already have hacked or patched version of LegitCheckControl.dll installed. WGA LegitCheckControl.dll version 1.5.708.0 has different structure from previous version and cannot be ‘upgraded’ by simply change the version info from the existing patched LegitCheckControl.dll. However, one reader Danny has contributed a cracked and patched version of LegitCheckControl.dll which is able to bypass and disable genuine Windows validation check to download the WGA-restricted downloads from Microsoft Download Center, beside performing Windows update.

Thanks to Steve Jobs for this post in this blog. You have successfully activate Windows Vista instantly in OEM style by using hardware-level BIOS ACPI-SLIC mod, or one of the two software based OEM BIOS emulator such as softmod SLIC BIOS bootloader and Paradox OEM BIOS Emulation Toolkit.

However, if you’re not install Windows Vista with OEM DVD media image, your installed version of Windows Vista edition is just of plain flavor. If you fancy to have some OEM logo identification and OEM information somewhere in Windows Vista use below patcher, the auto patcher does automatically add and install Lenovo, HP or Dell and many more OEM logo and information to Windows Vista.

A user at a Chinese Windows Vista forum has created automated installer that add the OEM logo and info to Windows Vista. Once executed, the setup will copy the required files to \Windows\System32\OOBE folder or its sub-directory, depending on which OEM brand you pick. It will also automatically merge the registry entries and values for OEM logo and info to at least the following two registry keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winsat\WindowsExperienceIndexOemInfo To use the automated patcher and installer for OEM logo, simply double click on the downloaded executable, and then click on the Install button (you will see garbage text, but just click on the left button of the bottom two to start the installation. If your Windows Vista installation is not on C:\ drive, select from the drop down list under the label D. After the OEM logo and information has been applied, you will see Welcome Center and System of Control Panel as in screenshots below. The information has added optional items related to OEM manufacturer include the manufacturer and model, a small logo picture, and a button leading to a separate page of support information.

OEM cert is a requirement for OEM style permanent Windows Vista activation, where users need not to activate online if they have the correct and valid OEM product key. If you download OEM version of Windows Vista DVD media, the digital certificate is already built-in into the distribution disc.

Why is it a Beta release?I decided to release it as beta, because I need your feedback on what to improve first. The files were all tested and are in circulation for quite some time. For the final release I would like to use a nice Gui to make the installation easier.
How can I contribute to this project?You can help me by sending me your Oem Certifications, Oem Keys for the next release to the below link. You will be of great help with your comments and suggestion. And I will need someone who can create a nice GUI with an installer for the final release.

How to install the Oem Certifications?You need to check if the BIOS contains SLIC (Software Licensing Description Table) and RSDT tables by using Everest which you will find in this kit. Run the Everest and look for an entry called ‘’SLIC’’and ‘’RSDT’’ in Motherboard>ACPI. (see screen shot) If your BIOS if not currently supported, try to upgrade and flash the BIOS to latest version from motherboard manufacturer, should this not work, use the Bios Emulator (VistaActivator 2.1.2) from this Kit. Vista OEM certificates for the folowing brands are included in this Kit: Acer, Asus, Dell, Emachine, Gateway, HP, Lenovo, NEC and Sony Once you confirm that your motherboard and BIOS has SLIC table in ACPI and you have the OEM certification for your brand, you can proceed with one of the two following methods: Method 1: OEM activation for during Vista installation:

Install any of the following Windows Vista edition:Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate
During installation, enter the corresponding edition of OEM product key listed in this file (OemKeys.txt) in the folder Oem Keys of this Kit.
After installing Windows Vista, open an elevated command prompt with administrator rights and execute the following command to import the correct OEM cert: slmgr.vbs -ilc oemcert.xrm-ms ‘’Wait until windows pops up with a conformation-message.’’ For example, to import and install a Dell OEM cert for a Dell computer, execute (assuming the OEM cert is located at C:\ drive:slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\dell.xrm-ms Windows Vista should be automatically and permanently activated. Method 2: OEM activation Vista already installed:
Open an elevated command prompt with administrator rights and execute the following command to import the correct OEM cert: slmgr.vbs -ilc oemcert.xrm-ms ‘’Wait until windows pops up with a conformation-message. ‘’ For example, to import and install a Dell OEM cert for a Dell computer, execute (assuming the OEM cert is located at C:\ drive:slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\dell.xrm-ms 2.Now type "C:\windows\system32\slmgr -ipk ". Wait until windows pops up with a conformation-message
Now type "C:\windows\system32\slmgr -ato ‘’Wait until windows pops up with a conformation-message.’’ This will activate OEM version of Windows Vista (or Windows Vista as OEM edition) once the digital certificate is loaded. Your are activated! How to install Oem Logos?Double click on the exe file of the brand you want to install, and confirm with yes at the next pop up window. You are done! How to install the bios emulator (only for those bios without the slic table support!!!)1. Install Windows Vista WITHOUT a key (if already installed nevermind)2. unpack the complete folder to a folder, say C:\vistaloader_2.1.23. go to start > all programs > accessoires and rightclick "Command Prompt" > choose "run as administrator" type "C:\vistaloader_2.1.2 \install.cmd".
Now REBOOT!
go to start > all programs > accessoires and rightclick "Command Prompt" > choose "run as administrator" type: "C:\windows\system32\slmgr -ilc c:\vistaloader_2.1.2\data\oemcert.xrm-ms". (oemcert= you have to choose by yourself which brand you want to use) Wait untill windows pops up with a conformation-message. Be sure to use an UNMODIFIED version of slmgr.6. now type "C:\windows\system32\slmgr -ipk ". Wait untill windows pops up with a conformation-message.7. now type "C:\windows\system32\slmgr -ato Wait untill windows pops up with a conformation-message.DONE, you're activated!

Microsoft’s Windows ‘Fiji’ on track to debut before Windows Seven

With Microsoft constantly switching up codenames, it's tough to keep track of what's on and what's off. But "Fiji" is on.

As I reported a while back, "Vienna," formerly known as "Blackcomb" is officially known inside Redmond's hallowed halls as Windows 7 (or more accurately, "Windows Seven," kind of like "Oceans Eleven," according to one of my fussy sources). Last year, I reported there was an interim Windows release on the books, code-named Fiji, that was slated to ship some time between Vista and Vienna. Others subsequently reported that Fiji was Vista Service Pack (SP)

Microsoft wouldn't comment either way. Well, it turns out that Fiji is, indeed, an interim Windows release and it is not Vista SP1. Fiji is the codename for the next version of Windows Media Center, according to various sources and blog hints. And Microsoft's plan of record is to release this next Windows Media Center build "out of band," meaning in between core Windows releases.

So the Windows Media Center roadmap looks like this (courtesy of Charlie Owen, a product manager on the Media Center team):

Our next version is yet another out of band release and (generally speaking) the team is pretty happy about that because it allows us to get back on our (approximate) yearly schedule of delivering goodness to customers (it was a major feat of engineering load balancing for us to be simultaneously working on 'Emerald' and 'Diamond' at the same time — a story for some other time). For the obvious follow up: Sorry, no dates or specific milestones to share, and past performance is not indicative of future release dates. Suffice it to say we are hard at work defining and coding the next version."
